Dear IRBC,
It is with great excitement and prayer that I send you these guidelines for our upcoming weekend services at IRBC! We will be having Sunday School at 10am for all ages. 11am Worship service.
In these days, each church faces the unique challenge of weighing the privilege and calling of the church to meet together weekly (cf. Heb 10:24–25) with the concern to protect each other from unhealthy or unsafe conditions.
Weighing these challenges and choosing a wise course of action, however, is possible for each of us because we serve a faithful, caring, and wise God who leads us in the choices that we make.
With these realities in mind, we look forward to making available the preaching of God’s Word and worshiping together in song and prayer here at IRBC. If you have any symptoms of illness, please stay home. We will continue to make a recording of our services available.
Here are the guidelines and some important information for services as we navigate forward.
~ We will prop open doors for you to use to enter and exit the building. The main doors at the front of the church building and the doors into the Sanctuary area will be open. All other exterior doors will be locked.
~ We ask that you continue to maintain 6 feet of space between you and others who are not in your immediate family he best we can. We all understand there will be times when this will be difficult.
~ Hand sanitizer is available for you when you enter and exit the building.
~ There will be no nursery during services. We ask that parents always keep their children with them at all times.
~ Every other pew will be taped off. We ask that families sit together and that each group of people maintain 6 feet of space between themselves and the next person.
~ Following the service, we will disinfect all hard surfaces, door handles, doorways, bathrooms, etc. to promote safety.
~ If you have any symptoms of illness, please stay home. If you are elderly or health compromised, you know the risks to yourself. We ask that you consider these risks as you consider attending church.
Bringing to mind His goodness,
Pastor Kraig

IRBC UPDATE On Covid-19
May 24th Reopening
Dear Iron River Bible Church Family,
We are living in interesting times. Since mid-March we have encouraged our congregation to worship from home on Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday nights with our prayer gatherings. We made this decision out of an abundance of caution regarding the COVID-19 virus, and with a desire to love our neighbors according to the information that was available.
All along, our earnest desire has been to open our services for in-person gathering as soon as God would lead, through the wisdom He provides us.
The IRBC Board, unanimously and enthusiastically, believe the time to re-open is May 24th.
We are very grateful that the Michigan stay-at-home orders have included exceptions for houses of worship, respecting the First Amendment and recognizing the unique role of worship gatherings for the spiritual, mental, and emotional well-being of people. We are also grateful for the many positive signs indicating the decrease of the virus’s severity here in the Upper Peninsula.
On Sunday, May 24th, at 10am and 11am, our doors will be open to worshipers. Our 10:00 hour will be Sunday School for all ages.
We will record the services for those who choose to worship from home.
We are very excited to welcome back in-person those who are willing and able to come, and to lift up our voices together in praise to our Lord! With the opening up we do want you to know we will be practicing social distancing as well. As we get back together we would ask each attender to respect the precautions that others choose to take. There will be no children’s classes or nursery at this time, but as always children are welcome to sit with their family in the worship area.
If you are sick or symptomatic with any illness, please remain home. We recognize that there will be some who are healthy but choose to remain at home as a health precaution. We trust that you will seek the Lord’s guidance to make a wise choice for your family. "Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” (Rom. 14:5).
We are praying for continued unity within our congregation, and trust that each member will show understanding and grace toward your brothers and sisters as each arrive at various decisions.
Thank you for the love and mutual care that is so evident within our congregation during this time.
“Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.” (1 Thess. 5:13b-14)
Throughout the week, we will continue to minister to each of you as well as we can, by God’s grace. We are not yet able to provide specific reopening dates for in-person on-site events, but will keep you posted as these decisions are made. Thank you for your prayers as we continue to seek the Lord’s wisdom in leading our congregation through this time.
“Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!” (1 Cor. 15:57)
