How to get to heaven
1. We must acknowledge that we are sinners facing God's wrath. Jesus said that He did not come to save the "righteous" but sinners (Mark 2:17). There are no "big" or "little" sins with God. Each one is enough to separate us from Him forever (Romans 3:23, 6:23).
There is nothing we can do to rid ourselves of our sins. Good works won't do it (Titus 3:5); baptism won't do it; church membership won't do it. Giving offerings won't do it.
2. We must accept what Jesus did to pay for our sin. He died, was buried and rose again to pay for for every person's sins (1Cor 15:3-8). In the Old Testament, the picture of the payment for sin was a lamb, which was sacrificed. In the New Testament, Jesus is the Lamb of God, who once and for all paid for sin (John 1:29; Heb 9:28).
3. That does not mean that all will go to heaven, but only those who personally receive Jesus as their Savior. John 1:12 says "But as many as received Him, to them gave He the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name."
Ask God to save you today:
"Today, I'm acknowledging that I am a sinner, that I can't save myself, and that I'm trusting Jesus to be my Savior from sin."
